Transport

The best way to get to Schwarzsee is by car. Therefore, it is recommended to rent a car or carpool to get there.

A round-trip shuttle service between Geneva Airport and Schwarzsee will be organized as follows:

Outbound journey (Geneva Airport to Schwarzsee)
– Friday, November 6, 2026: departure at 3:00 PM
– Saturday, November 7, 2026: departure at 2:00 PM

Return journey (Schwarzsee to Geneva Airport)
– Monday, November 9, 2026: departure at 10:00 AM

By plane

The nearest airports are Geneva (GVA), Zurich (ZRH), and Basel-Mulhouse (BSL).

From there, Schwarzsee can be reached by train and bus or by car.

From Geneva Airport (GVA)

  • Direct train GVA → Fribourg: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Bus Fribourg → Schwarzsee: approx. 50 minutes

From Zurich Airport (ZRH)

  • Train ZRH → Fribourg: approx. 1 hour 45 minutes (via Zurich HB then Bern)
  • Bus Fribourg → Schwarzsee: approx. 50 minutes

From Basel-Mulhouse (BSL)

  • Shuttle bus BSL → Basel SBB train station
  • Train Basel → Fribourg: approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Bus Fribourg → Schwarzsee: approx. 50 minutes

By train + bus

Schwarzsee does not have a train station. Public transport access is via Fribourg, then TPF bus line 123 to Schwarzsee.

Fribourg is located on the main Geneva–Zurich-Fribourg railway line.

From Geneva

  • Train Geneva → Fribourg: approx. 1 hour 20 minutes (direct or via Lausanne)
  • Bus Fribourg → Schwarzsee: approx. 50 min (TPF 123)

From Basel

  • Train Basel → Fribourg: approx. 1 hour 20 minutes (via Bern)
  • Bus Fribourg → Schwarzsee: approx. 50 min

From Zurich 

  • Train Zurich → Fribourg: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes (via Bern)

Schwarzsee is located in the canton of Fribourg, accessible via the A1 (Geneva–Zurich) and A12 (Bern–Vevey) motorways.

From Geneva

  • Travel time: approx. 2 to 2 hours 15 minutes
  1. A1 motorway towards Lausanne
  2. At Lausanne, take the A12 towards Vevey / Bulle / Fribourg
  3. Continue on the A12 past Bulle
  4. Take the Düdingen / Guin exit
  5. Follow signs for Tafers → Plaffeien → Schwarzsee

From Basel

  • Travel time: approx. 2 to 2 hours 15 minutes
  1. A2 towards Lucerne
  2. Merge onto the A1 towards Bern
  3. At Bern, take the A12 towards Fribourg
  4. Take the Düdingen / Guin exit
  5. Follow signs for Tafers → Plaffeien → Schwarzsee

From Zurich

  • Travel time: approx. 2 to 2 hours 15 minutes
